On nights when sleep would not come, my mother would tell me a fantasy she once heard long ago.
“Once upon a time, in a small distant village, there lived a gentle bear spirit known as The Night’s Drop. It was said to appear beside the pillows of children who could not sleep. After chasing away frightening dreams, the spirit would leave behind a gemstone upon their chest— a quiet promise before disappearing into the night.”
As a child, I secretly hoped that one day, the spirit might come to me as well, my heart fluttering at the thought.
I never met the spirit. Yet over time, the story itself became a talisman— a soft presence I carried within me.
Woven into this small bear is the warmth of my mother’s wish: that even after a bad dream, I would sleep in peace. At the center of the ribbon, a ruby glows— like a gently handed wish, still shining.
